Brace Fashion
While wearing a back brace, it can be very hard to find clothes that hide it entirely. However, there are a lot of simple and easy ways to hide it.
In the fall/winter months, it is pretty easy to cover up your brace because everyone is already wearing long sleeves and long pants. You can always wear a baggy shirt or big sweater over your brace, which will probably make your brace undetectable. If you have a long brace, pants with a big waist or a size up are a good option. That way, you can wear your pants over your brace to cover the end of it.
In the spring/summer months, covering up your brace is more difficult because everyone is wearing open backs, tank tops, and shorts. Shirts with open backs will not be wearable, but shorts can still be worn in most cases. Once again, buying shorts a size up and wearing them over your brace will help cover the end of your brace.
Here's a list of the tips I made about wearing your brace in the summer:
-
Tape the metal ends of the straps on your brace down so they don’t poke holes through your shirt
-
Wearing flowy skirts over your brace hides the end of your brace
-
Wearing leggings or flowy shorts are way more comfortable than jean shorts/pants
-
Flowy shirts make the straps of your brace less noticeable
-
Longer shirts cover the end of your brace easily
-
If you wear shorts/pants underneath you brace, avoid wearing belts because it will press against your skin
-
Flowy rompers are really good at concealing braces
-
Wearing a jean jacket over a short-sleeve shirt will help hide your brace
Hopefully, these tips will help you out!
